Dr. Hunt's Treatment Modalities
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Points are specific spots in the fibers of the muscles that have the ability to cause a direct pattern of pain referral as well as harden and shorten the muscles in which they are involved. Direct pain referral means that a Trigger Point in one location can be responsible for pain felt in another area. For example, Trigger Points at the base of the skull can create headaches, points in the low back can cause hip pain, etc. By removing Trigger Points, we can relieve muscle-based pains and increase the body's ability to have freedom of movement.
Visceral Manipulation
The Viscera are your organs (liver, stomach, etc.). They each have a proper position and range of movement within the body. Any restrictions to this movement can result in organ system dysfunction as well as the transmission of pain to the body walls. For example, a problem such as heartburn often times has its source in the biomechanics of the stomach and esophagus and requires a biomechanical treatment rather than just an addition of an antacid. Freeing up the natural movement of the organs results in a great improvement to health.
Chiropractic
Every cell, tissue, and organ in the body is controlled by the central nervous system. Any misalignment of the bones of the spine has the potential to impinge or irritate the nerves exiting from the spine. When that happens, the result can be pain, headache, organ dysfunction, etc. Any misalignment of any other joint in the body also has the ability to cause pain and dysfunction such as shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, foot pain, etc. The list is too long to be printed here. Chiropractic seeks to keep all the joints of the body in perfect alignment, and to relieve these dysfunctions.
Activator Methods
There are many specific techniques within the field of Chiropractic. The method Dr. Hunt uses most often is called "Activator Methods." This is a very gentle technique using the Activator instrument to align the bone structures of the body.
